Ring Race: Burnt by the Sun
The past 20 and 21 June of second phase of the championship of Ukraine at the Kyiv avtodrome «Chayka» was really fervor reigned over the route during two days. Perhaps that is why many athletes made mistakes, which cost them at least of broken autos.
After Saturday accidents in the «Lada 1500» most of the spectators hoped that pilots would be more careful – but no such luck. For example, one of the beginners from class «Turing Light» Andrew Tovba managed to break his Ford Fiesta in the penultimate turn of the last terms of the race! The winner of the same class, as well as the entire stage, was Igor Skuz.
Youth races «Lada 1500» was best remembered for Artem Shabazov’s breakthrough of tail to the third position, but it was ended with clash of Shabazova shedshim with Alexander Lukomskim.
Check-class «Super 2000» was best remembered for «top», which Leonid Protassov spinned in the last round – whether by error, or for visitors who gathered to see the race. Alexander Gaidai won the race again, Protassov came the second, third was Basov. But «formulas» races, as well as most of Sunday’s races were not done without the accident. Andrushchenko and Varavin had no contacts, but the struggle of Frankivsk vs Lewinsky ended the clash and Frankivsk fell out of the race in the last cycle. However, it still allowed him to be classified at the fourth position; Golota closed five.
Only final check-class «Lada 1500» ended without accidents – not counting the jam in the last turn of the race, and Kuzmenko hit the marbles. Any else decay was caused by technical problems with the engine (Sudorzhenko) and the oil system (Savchenko). The third position of Odessa Tsunami Rally Team, a victory at the stage of inherited Kharkiv «HADO Motorsport», – said the press-service of «Chayka».
